What is 'user research'?

In the context of government digital services and policies, user research is conducted to understand user

needs, goals and motivations. User researchers plan, prepare for sessions, share, analyse and present

findings. It is an essential discipline to learn about users’ needs and thought processes by studying how

they perform tasks, observing how they interact with the government service to gather insights that will

drive and inform the design process.

Is the course only focused on government products and services?

Yes but the course can also be applicable in the private sector.

Do I need design or coding experience?

No, you don't need any design or coding experience. User researchers are not required to do so.

What are the admissions criteria?

Anyone can enter our courses. You do need to be motivated and committed. You need to be able to speak

and write in English as all our tutorials are delivered in English.

How long is the course?

User Research Levels 1 and 2 are a full day course starting at 9.30 am finishing at 5 pm (UK GMT).

The modular courses are 2.5 hours per module.

Will there be an assessment?

Yes, there is a simple project-based assessment with guidance of your tutor at the end of the course.

Will there be hands-on exercises?

Yes, throughout each course, you will complete a series of exercises and will give you hands-on practical experience in user research.

How big are the virtual classes?

Each course is limited to max 10 students per session. We accept enrolments on a first come, first served basis.

Are the courses credit rated by universities?

No, they are not credited by UK universities. 

Are the courses recognised?

Yes, the courses are based on government digital services.

Are the courses licensed?
